hmmm…….A teenager had faced bullying all her life due to an extremely rare skin condition which leaves her covered in scales.

Floraine Nalugon, who was dubbed “snake lady” said she had to move from her hometown with her parents when she was just 7 to a different town because of the insensitive comments people made about her. According to her, her parents told her she was conceived out of fish that’s why she has skin that looks like fish scale. Other said her skin looks like snake skin.

 

Floraine needs to constantly smear her body with moisturiser to stop it from hardening and seizing up. She said her bedding is covered in “scales” every morning when she wakes up and she rarely ventures into the crowded places in a bid to avoid unwanted stares.

The teen suffers with ichthyosis – a condition where a faulty gene affects the rate at which the skin regenerates causing a build-up of rough, scaly skin. Floraine,17, from Bukindnon in the Philippines hopes to be treated by experts in Spain who are looking into her case.

She said: “When I was seven years old, my parents moved. Initially, I thought I could escape kids back home, who ridiculed me for my condition. My parents told me that I was conceived out of fish, that’s why my skin looks like fish scales to some while to others it looks like snake skin. It hurts me lot hearing other people making fun of me. My parents gave me the strength through. They showered me with love despite my physical deformities.”
India-based press agency Newslions is currently helping Shalini Yadav, 16, from Madhya Pradesh get treatment for a similar condition in Malaga. They have taken details of Floraine’s case to the same doctors.

Florained says she is excited to know that there is a treatment of the disease she suffers from. She is determined to make something out of her life to show those who discriminated against her that there is more to her.
She said; “I will be studying hard, get a good job and show to people that discriminate against me that there is a chance for me to be like them also. I am hopeful that I will also be treated like the Indian girl, who suffers from the same disease like mine, is being treated today.”

hehehehe……Last week, the chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Itse Sagay, granted an interview with The Nation where he said the ruling APC government is a failure and that the leadership style of the party is weak and lily-livered.

“As for the leadership of the APC, I think they are the most unprincipled group of people. They are lily-livered, weak, and cannot run any organisation. The whole party is collapsing under them. They cannot control anybody. In fact, they’re now encouraging and accepting   ‘rogue elephants’, pampering people who are destroying the party, saying ‘let’s not annoy them too much’, but they’re destroying the APC house. So, I think the APC leadership is weak, is too compromising and is certainly a failure as far as I’m concerned.” he said

APC has now released a statement reacting to Sagay’s comment against the party. In the statement, the party called Sagay an elephant rogue who was brought out of inevitable oblivion by President Buhari. Read the statement signed by its National publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi below
Our attention has been brought to an interview published on pages 46-47 of The Nation Newspaper of Sunday, September 24, 2017, granted by the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption (PACAC), Professor Itse Sagay (SAN).
In the said interview, Sagay described the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “the most unprincipled group of people” who are “encouraging and accepting rogues” in the party. He said: “When I say ‘rogues’, I don’t mean stealing. In literature, when you say someone is a rogue elephant, it means people who are running riot and destroying the party.”
The Webster dictionary defines ‘rogue elephant’ as “one whose behaviour resembles that of a rogue elephant in being aberrant or independent.” Clearly if we have today, anyone in our government or, by extension, the party who feels accountable only to his own ego; who does not feel the need to bridle his tongue for the sake of anything that is higher than himself; who feels independent of everyone and every institution; that person is Professor Sagay.
Asked by the interviewer if he would stop speaking if the President asks him to stop speaking, he said: “Yes, he is my employer. If he tells me to stop talking, I’ll stop talking. But I have certain rights too that I can exercise in addition to that, because I’m not going to be in a position where I am impotent. So, I must obey him, but I can go beyond that and obey myself too. That’s it.” Framed in another way, what Sagay is saying here is that, no matter what is at stake, he would rather resign than obey the President if the President tries to restrain him. This is the quintessential rogue elephant behaviour.
In his sheer arrogance, he forgets that it is impossible for him to call out the leadership of the party as “weak” and “unprincipled” without indicting the President, who is the leader of the party and has the fundamental responsibility to build the party. If Sagay had any iota of respect for the man who dug him back from inevitable oblivion and puts him in a position in which he now feels superior to everyone, he would channel his opinions and advice to the President on how to make the party stronger and more principled. It appears however that Sagay does not have anything constructive to say about anything. He only knows how to tear down and assault everyone and everything.
We want to remind Sagay and all other appointees of our government that the only reason they occupy their current position today is because the APC won the election. There is, therefore, a matter of honour to show decorum and respect for the party and its leadership. You cannot love the fruit and hate the tree that produced it.

Troops arrest 2 suspected illegal arms dealers in Zamfara

Troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have arrested two suspected illegal arms dealers along Funtua-Gusau road in Zamfara on Sunday.

Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Monday that preliminary investigation showed that the suspects were on their way to deliver ammunition to Ar.med bandits.

Usman said that they were caught driving a Golf Volkswagen car with registration “number AWE-534-AA (Nasarawa) containing 1,479 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.”

According to him, the suspects are in custody of DSS.

Usman said that troops deployed at Dangulbi in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara also arrested three Ar.med bandits while on routine patrol.

“The team recovered one AK-47 r!fle magazine, 40 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, N45,500, Nokia mobile telephone handset battery and three Airtel SIM cards,” he said.

In a related development, he said the troops also arrested a suspected cattle rustler, Abdullahi Jummo Nakogiwo, at Dalingen in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Barry breaks record for Premier League appearances

Gareth Barry broke Ryan Giggs’ Premier League appearance record as the West Bromwich Albion midfielder played his 633rd game in Monday’s clash against Arsenal.

Barry was named Albion captain at the Emirates Stadium in honour of his milestone moment and received a warm reception from both Arsenal and West Brom fans before kick-off.

The 36-year-old, who drew level with former Manchester United star Giggs when he played in West Brom’s goalless draw against West Ham last weekend, was making his 601st start in the top-flight.

Barry made his debut for Aston Villa at the age of 17, appearing as a substitute in a 3-1 victory at Sheffield Wednesday on May 2, 1998.

It was fitting that his landmark appearance came against the G.unners as their manager Arsene Wenger twice tried to sign him during his long career.

Instead, Barry went on to play for Manchester City, with whom he won the title in 2012, and Everton before joining West Brom on a free transfer this summer.

Now in his 21st season as a professional, Barry, who also has 53 England caps, this week admitted he could carry on playing until he is 40.

That could take him past Giggs again as the Welshman, who played 40 times in the old First Division before the Premier League was introduced in 1992, made 672 top-flight appearances.

Dortmund out to ruin Ronaldo milestone

Borussia Dortmund will aim to maintain their unbeaten record at home to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday and spoil Cristiano Ronaldo’s 150th European appearance.

Dortmund and title holders Real meet in the group stage for the second year running.

The teams drew both games 2-2 last season as the Germans topped the section before bowing out in the last eight while Real went on to win a record 12th title.

Dortmund have won three and drawn three of their meetings at Signal Iduna Park, including their dazzling 4-1 first-leg win in the 2013 Champions League semi-final when R0bert Lewandowski scored all four goals.

“There were always great games against Real Madrid,” said Dortmund’s Germany midfielder Mario Goetze on Monday.

“With Madrid having won the last two Champions League seasons, we of course have a lot of respect, but we are also in very good shape and full of confidence.”

Defending champions Real opened their group campaign with a 3-0 win at home to APOEL while Dortmund suffered a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur a fortnight ago.

‘Philameyang’

The Germans’ main task may be containing four-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo, who has scored 110 goals in European competition but failed to find the net in his last two league outings.

The Portuguese superstar is among the final three nominees for the Best FIFA Men’s Player 2017 award and the winner will be announced on October 23.

“Ronaldo hasn’t played much of late, but I expect him to be in top form against us,” said Dortmund coach Peter Bosz.

“I don’t believe that Real will be any worse off just because they have a few injured players.”

Real boss Zinedine Zidane is without a left-back as Marcelo (hamstring) and Theo Hernandez (shoulder) are both out, so Nacho is set to fill in.

Karim Benzema is missing with a hamstring injury, but Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were both rested at the weekend and Toni Kroos is expected to return after injury.

Dortmund flexed their muscles ahead of the heavyweight showdown with a 6-1 home drubbing of Borussia Moenchengladbach in the German league on Saturday as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted a hat-trick.

The Gabon striker has now scored eight goals in six league games.

He has forged a partnership — dubbed ‘Philameyang’ by the German media — with left-winger Maximilian Philipp, who has scored four goals in his last three games.

Dortmund’s big win over Gladbach came with forwards Marco Reus, Andre Schuerrle and Raphael Guerreiro injured while new signing Andriy Yarmolenko, Nuri Sahin and Gonzalo Castro were not used.

Zidane’s worries

While Dortmund shone in At-tack, they struggled at the back against Gladbach, who had half a dozen clear chances to score which went begging.

Real are unlikely to be as forgiving, but they have struggled to create chances of late, which worries their French coach.

Madrid’s run of scoring in 73 successive matches in all competitions ended when they lost 1-0 at home to Real Betis last Wednesday.

But they rebounded with a 2-1 win at Alaves on Saturday as Dani Ceballos scored his first goals for Madrid on his first competitive start.

“We cannot be pleased with the amount of opportunities we have created lately, but I believe in my players,” said Zidane.

“I hope our strikers will score again, but I have always maintained that it is the most important thing to create chances.”

Real traditionally have a terrible record in Germany with 19 defeats, seven draws and only five wins.

However, four of those victories have come in their last seven visits and they enjoyed a 2-1 win at Bayern Munich in last season’s quarter-finals.
