Reuben Abati writes open letter to Nnamdi Kanu

Dear Nnamdi Kanu,

We have never met. I only know you by reputation and I have had cause in the last year to write on your activities within the public arena and offer my own views about you, your persona, and your interventions in the Nigerian debate. I sincerely hope you would get to read this letter wherever you may be, that is assuming you are still alive.

Your father’s house was recently invaded by the Nigerian military (surprised you don’t have a house of your own!). We were later told that you simply disappeared into thin air, along with your parents. The Mur.derous Operation Python Dance II that was unleashed on Igboland by the Federal Government of Nigeria has since become a subject of national interest. Many people have proclaimed that you have been killed, abducted and that many members of your family and movement – the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been wasted. Some people said you were called The Lion, but when trouble came, you were the first to run away from the zoo.
You had boasted that you will deal with any invading force from Abuja. You also said it would be “Biafra or Death”. But when death came calling in the shape of Operation Python Dance II, your enemies insisted that you should have waited. Don’t mind them, oh. I have defended you in another piece where I argued that it is pR0bably better to run away so you can live to fight another day. Of course, it is not every revolutionary that runs away.
Che Guevara died in the struggle, and Martin Luther King, Patrice Lumumba, and so on. Nelson Mandela was ja!led for life, but he lived to tell the story. In your case, the way the Nigerian state has been carrying on, it is clear they don’t want you to tell any more stories. You have been charged for treason. You have now been labeled a Terr0rist. Your organization has been proscribed, and labeled an enemy of the Nigerian state. A week after soldiers stormed your state, neighbourhood and home, the Nigerian Air Force began to drop its men from helicopters all over Igboland. They call it show of force.
I guess all of that is to let you and your men know that wherever you are, the Nigerian state is determined to hunt you down. If you are on land, they will grab you. If you hide in the skies, the Air Force will bring you down. And if you hide in the seas, the Nigerian Navy and the Amphibious Brigade of the Nigeria Army will fish you out. Officially, we have been told that you and IPOB are worse than violent herdsmen and the Boko Haram who have killed thousands of Nigerians in the last year alone. The Boko Haram has been declared the fourth most violent group in the world, but the Nigerian government insists that you pose a greater threat. In fact, a government spokesperson sounded as if there is a secret plan in place to give herdsmen and the Boko Haram national honours.
There is pR0bably something that the Nigerian government and state actors know that we do not know. You were dealing with the charge of treason, now there is the additional allegation of Terr0rism. Don’t ever deceive yourself that if you get arrested again, you’d be released, except perhaps you change your identity and claim that you are now a herdsman or a member of the Boko Haram. There may be many people who have Nicodemus access to you who may be telling you to come and confront the Nigerian state. That is how Nigerians sweet-tongue people to their death. I am sure that by now, from your hiding place, you would have learnt some lessons.
The Nigerian state may be against you, but the people you really have to fear are the same people you claim to be leading, that is the same people who used to call you messiah and who followed you about, kneeling before you and kissing the ground on which you walked. Of what use is a change-agent without committed followers? Of what use is a revolution without the people’s buy-in? Of what use is an ideology without foot-soldiers? The moment the Federal Government activated Operation Python II, most of the people who used to support you have gone completely silent. The Biafra Secret Service is nowhere to be seen. The Biafra National Guard threw away its uniform. Some of those boys who used to wave the Biafran flag and wear the Biafran cap have thrown them away too. One or two persons are still issuing statements on behalf of IPOB, but even those statements sound like they were issued from business centres. Your own kinsmen have called you a tyrant and an opportunist. Many of them have written social media pieces advising the Federal Government to deal with you, because you don’t listen to advice. They even say you are not a true revolutionary but a gold-digger.
In all manner of ways, the Governors of the five Igbo states are using you to play politics. They have declared IPOB an illegal organization. They are openly abusing you. All the big men in Igbo land are as quiet as the dead sea. Igbo traditional rulers have refused to support your father who is their colleague. Some of them have in fact asked the Abia state Governor to withdraw his certificate and staff of office and appoint another person in his place. Even the big men who signed your bail documents have refused to defend you. You used to boast about international support for the Biafran cause. It has been said that the government now knows some “treasury looters” and international groups who are funding you and that IPOB accounts have been traced to some countries, particularly France. The French and the Turkish promptly distanced themselves from you. But the European Union and the United States spoke nicely. America says IPOB is not a Terr0rist organization and America will know.
But the Nigerian government that may not know half of what America knows is insisting that it is now a crime for anybody, even as young as five years old to identify with Biafra, regardless of the Constitutional right to the freedom of speech and association and the right to self-determination enshrined in the UN Charter. Indeed, it would appear as if the Nigerian Government has been able to break the spine of your movement, at least for now, and certainly, the way things are, the November 18 election in AnamBrra state will take place – with or without you. If anybody expected that there would be a massive protest in the South East over the treatment that has been meted out to you, that has not quite happened. All the markets in the South East are open; Igbo traders across Nigeria have moved on with their businesses. Life is so normal in the South East, the Nigerian military is dancing and beating its chest.
Northern and South Eastern Governors are holding meetings and congratulating each other. You turned 50 yesterday, apart from a few messages on social media, everywhere was quiet in the South-East. If this had been a month ago, the crowd that would have gathered at your doorstep would have stretched from Isiama Afara to Afikpo, and the cakes you would have received would have been uncountable. Rochas Okorocha recently got 27 birthday cakes, presented by 27 women, representing the same number of local governments in Imo State, you pR0bably would have received a cake from every local government in the entire South East!
Since your disappearance there has also been little talk about self-determination or Biafra among Igbos. The sound of the narrative is gradually changing. There is more talk these days about Igbo marginalization, and the need to appoint Igbos into offices. One prominent Northerner from Kaduna has since gone to Chatham House in the UK to say Igbos should not complain about marginalization when they didn’t vote for President Buhari in 2015, and that it is foolish for any Nigerian to expect to reap where he or she did not sow. Nnamdi, you’d be surprised that appointment-seeking Igbos will mobilise your people, including your followers, to vote massively for the same people who are currently hounding you, in 2019. You can be sure this will happen. In fact some people are already boasting that the only way to have peace in Nigeria is to make an Igbo man President or Vice President in 2019. While you were shouting “Biafra or death”, some people were eyeing the business and political side of things. Every proposed revolution often runs into its own contradictions.
But don’t worry. It may be fashionable now to criticise Nnamdi Kanu but the wisdom of the mob is not always the best guide. I sincerely hope that you are alive, and that you’d not end up as an AboG.unrin. Not every man has the opportunity to witness what life would be like after his own funeral. Treachery is one of those unsavoury ingredients of the change process. The deserters of the cause would claim they prefer to survive. The coffin maker prays fervently for business but he would never wish that his own family members should die. But take heart, hope is not lost. The fire that you have lit will continue to burn. Your struggle speaks directly to the subject of the national question. You have reminded all and sundry that Nigeria remains a troubled country and that there are many unresolved issues. Every effort has been made to kill your voice, and your movement, but the ideas that you have forced out of the cupboard will continue to resonate.
The good news also is that there are Nigerians in diaspora who have taken up the struggle. They went to demonstrate at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly in New York and on the streets of London. Your friends, FFK and Ayo Fayose are still standing by you. There are many others out there who also do not agree that you are a Terr0rist, even if they do not agree with your methods and rhetoric. You have also exposed the hypocrisy of the Igbo elite. You have exposed the desperation of the ruling class. Don’t let your head swell, though. If I must tell you the truth, you over-acted. Too much acting dey spoil cinema. You paid too much attention to ceremony. You were obsessed with your own heroism.
As you read this piece and reflect on your life at 50, let me remind you of the following statement which you made on August 27, 2017:
“Where we are is Biafra land. Aba is the spiritual capital of Biafra land. We started in Aba in 2015 at CKC. That day, heaven authenticated our move that IPOB will restore Biafra and that’s what we have come to do. We died in Aba at National High School. They shot and killed us in other places in Biafra land where they were protesting for my release. As our people rest in the grave, we’ll never rest until Biafra is restored. I don’t care what they say in Abuja. I don’t give a damn what they say in Lagos. I’m a Biafran and we are going to crumble the zoo. Some idiots who are not educated said that they’ll arrest me, and I ask them to come, I’m in Biafra. If any of them leaves Biafra land alive, know that this is not IPOB. Tell them what I said. Tell Buhari that I am in Aba and any person who comes to arrest Nnamdi Kanu in Biafra land will die here. I’ll never go on exile I assure you. Some people talk about restructuring, are we doing the restructuring of Nigeria now? Are we doing fiscal Federalism? Are we doing devolution? What we want is Biafra! Forget all the nonsense they write about us. We are not slowing down and no man born of a woman can stop us…”
Words on marble, Mazi Kanu, these are strong words on marble… Whatever happens, the fight of the python and the lion is a defining moment for Nigeria.

Nigeria trended on Twitter with #StopTheNGOBill and here’s why

#StopTheNGOBill
Hehe………….A group of concerned Nigerians took to Twitter yesterday to protest against the controversial Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO regulatory bill which is about to be passed in the House of Representatives, with #StopTheNGOBill.

The controversial bill seeks to set up a federal agency to be known as the NGO Regulatory Commission, to regulate activities of NGO’s and civil society organisations, CSOs, across the country. The bill proposes that NGOs require permission from the Government before they can raise money, spend money and a total restriction on all their activities.
Here’s what the convener of the protest on Twitter, Caleb Somtochukwu Okeke wrote;

“Why are we not talking about the horrible NGO regulation bill about to be passed by the House of Reps?
Perhaps because you think it doesn’t affect you? Perhaps the only thing that comes to your mind when we say NGO is a jobless group of people who give food to smiling children asked to pose for a camera?
I am thankful that we live in a time where the trifling echo of our voices can in some way matter. I am thankful that however marginal our contributions may be, however vacillating our stance to speak, there is a likelihood that we are being listened to anyway.

The NGO regulation bill is one of those things we need to speak against. In this bill, the government would reserve the power to police the activities of all Non Governmental Organizations.
To help you out of your confusion, Non Governmental Organizations include churches, mosques, student associations, August meetings, the sport club you founded with your best friend in your apartment in mushin, Catholic Women Organizations, any organization that’s Non Governmental and of course the generic charity organizations.
Well in our usual hypocrisy the bill is going to exclude religious organizations, but every other institution is at risk.
Why this is crazy is because you’d require permission from the Government before you can raise money, spend money and a total restriction of your activities really.
Would I worry if this was happening in another country? No. There are positive sides to this bill. A startling number of NGO’s have extorted funds and deserve to be answerable to some form of authority.
My grouse here is that this authority cannot be the pot bellied man in Abuja, smacking his teeth in a silly attempt at removing cigarette Sm0ke and disregarding the files of people who have failed to “co-operate.”
It cannot be the lose mouthed government secretary who waves you away and tells you, “Oga is not around, come back tomorrow” day after day as if your entire existence is for shuffling in an out of government offices.
There are people with severe health conditions who rely on the activities of these NGO’s to survive, and the table of an over fed senator in Abuja is not the right place to deliberate life and death.
Scrutiny is good. I believe that sometimes inspection, analysis and accountability does yield good results especially when steered by the right hands.
But I also believe in integrity, transparency, in even handedness, in the awareness that we exist to make another’s journey easier.
I believe in equity, in service, in the infinitesimal actions of kindness and the changes these small deeds can trigger.
But you would not find these qualities in Abuja. Not in that office filled with light, smelling of camphor, a globe spinning on its table and a framed impression of the Coat of Arms hanging on its wall.
You would not find it there.”

Pope Francis accused of spreading heresy

Pope Francis
hehehehe……..More than 60 Roman Catholic theologians, priests and academics have accused Pope Francis of spreading heresy. The group sent a letter of filial correction to the pope and outlined seven heresies they believe he has spread.

None of the authors of the letter is a cardinal, the highest-ranking member of the group is a bishop whose society isn’t a legal church entity.
Those heresies all relate to Francis’ statements on divorce. In 2016, the pope issued a document which made it possible for divorced and civilly remarried Catholics to participate in Holy Communion.
That’s a major about-face for the Catholic Church, which traditionally views divorce as impossible. But Francis has been leaning that way for awhile. In 2015, he said the church needs to be more welcoming toward divorced people.
The pope’s views on divorce, remarriage and the Eucharist is also a major break from past popes. Both Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II’s statements on divorce were in line with the traditional Catholic view.
Since Francis’ 2016 statement, some individual Catholic churches have implemented communion for divorced people in different ways.
And the pope has tried to clarify his stance at the request of priests worldwide. He says on this issue, keeping mercy in mind is more important than the traditional legalistic views of the church.

Hurricane: Buhari orders evacuation of Nigerian students in Dominican Island

Nigerian students
hehehehe……….President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate evacuation of Nigerian students stranded in Dominican Island occasioned by the reported Hurricane Maria that thrashed the Island.
Nigerian students attend medical schools in Dominican Islands which prepare them to move to the U. S. and Europe for the completion of their medical degree programmes.

According to Guardian, following the president’s directive, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had since been on top of the situation.
It was gathered that the ministry, which has been monitoring the situation, had already assigned a senior official to travel for the purpose of issuing the stranded students with temporary travel certificates. The affected students had since been evacuated to safety.
When contacted for comment on the issue, Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, confirmed the Presidential order, saying that the president was touched with the conditions of the students.
“The President was deeply touched when he learnt that some of them escaped with nothing but the shirts on their backs,’’ he said. According to him, the students will be moved to Brrazil, where they don’t need visas, for onward evacuation to Nigeria.
At least 10 people were killed as Hurricane Maria, ranked a Category 4 storm, raged through the Caribbean including parts of the Dominican Republic with heavy rain and high winds as it passed off its east coast on Thursday.
Hurricane Maria, with sustained winds of up to 250 km per hour, hit Puerto Rico on Wednesday, making it the strongest storm to hit the U.S. territory in nearly 90 years.

MUST READ……….Police finally reveals Tupac’s killer in documentary (photos)

tupac
Killers of Tupac has finally been revealed by the Police in a new explosive documentary ‘Who Shot Biggie & Tupac?’
Detectives Tim Bennan and R0bert Ladd, who allegedly made headway in the 1996 Mur.der incident which remained  unsolved with immense speculation that the rapper is still alive, said a gangster member from the Crips, Orlando ‘Baby Lane’ Anderson was the killer who opened fire on the star’s car in Las Vegas in 1996 in a revenge At-tack.

tupac
Two US police officers who worked for Compton Police Department in California and spent years investigating the death of the Hip Hop icon, further revealed that they had Anderson on their radar after he tried to G.un someone else down as part of a gangland initiation at the age of 15.
tupac
The Cops were called in to help Las Vegas Police Department investigate the death which rocked the world of music, said in the immediate aftermath, informants told them Anderson was boasting to people about killing Tupac.
Since the shooting took place in Las Vegas, they were not directly involved with the investigation, but the officers did coordinate with detectives who worked on the case.
Bennan and Ladd say they pointed the investigation in the direction of a man who they still believe is the culprit.

“We believe Orlando Anderson was the one who did it,” Ladd told journalist Soledad O’Brien on last night’s show.
tupac

At the time of Shakur’s death, Anderson was already under investigation for his alleged involvement in a different Mur.der.
Ladd and Bennan say that despite all the theories about elaborate conspiracies surrounding Tupac’s death (many believe ja!led former music mogul Suge Knight ordered Shakur’s Mur.der), the motive was no more complex than an old Be.ef amongst gang members.

“They had all these other theories going on, but it was a really simple gang one-on-one to Tim and I,” Ladd says of the investigating officers.

Anderson certainly had motive–he was a member of a rival gang and had once suffered a savage beating at the hands of Shakur’s security team–and Bennan and Ladd say they were able to trace the Mur.der weap0n back to him.

 tupac

Bennan says he found the .40 calibre handG.un that was used to Mur.der Shakur in a Compton evidence locker. A tag stated that it was found at a gang member’s girlfriend’s house.
Officers later learned that that gang member had also been Mur.dered in Las Vegas around the time of Shakur’s death. Vegas police chose not to pursue the lead, and as a result, Bennan and Ladd say, they allowed a killer to go free. Anderson was Mur.dered in a dispute over D.rug money in 1998, which means Bennan and Ladd’s theory will likely remain unproven.

You are not Messi – What Cavani told Neymar during first meeting revealed

ehe…….hehehehEdinson Cavani asked Neymar if he thought he was Lionel Messi, when the Brrazilian walked into Paris Saint-Germain’s dressing room for the first time, emerging report has revealed.
Cavani and the Brrazilian don’t see eye-to-eye, after their recent squabble over penalty and free-kick taking responsibilities. But it seems their first exchange wasn’t much better either.

According to Spanish newspaper, El Pais, the Uruguay striker talked down on Neymar, following his world-record transfer from Barcelona.
“And who is this? Do you think you’re (Lionel) Messi?”, the striker reportedly asked, when Neymar first entered the dressing room.
Whether Cavani was joking or was intending to insult the new arrival remains unclear, especially since Neymar was seemingly left Camp Nou, to escape the shadow of Messi.

Dino Melaye reacts to recall process, INEC timetable

hehehehe…….Senator Dino Melaye has denied claims that he was evading the service of petition and timetable for his recall from the Senate, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, is facing a recall by his constituents who in a petition on June 23, 2017, called on INEC to recall him.

On Monday, Melaye told newsmen that accepting any “purported’’ petition from INEC would amount to breaching the 1999 Constitution (amended).
“It is clear that by the provisions of Section 69(b) of the 1999 Constitution, INEC must act on the petition purportedly presented to it on June 23, 2017 by conducting a referendum within 90 days of receipt of the petition.
“The 90 days period as provided for in the Constitution for conducting the referendum after our verification, elapsed on Sept. 23, 2017.
“The time having elapsed, I cannot under the circumstance, aid and abet INEC to further infringe on the provisions of the Constitution, which I have sworn to defend,” he said.

The lawmaker pointed out that his position on the matter had been affirmed by various Supreme Court decisions.
“The trial judge failed to respect that provision of the Constitution when he elongated 90 days provided for, saying the process was paused when the interim order for maintenance of status quo was granted.
“I am not evading the service of any purported petition on me by INEC.
“As a matter of fact, my lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, served INEC a notice to produce the said petition in the course of hearing of this matter but INEC failed to produce the petition in court.

“I have also instructed my lawyer to challenge the jurisdiction of the trial court to entertain an ex parte application for the service on me.
“In view of the lapse of time, I shall no longer be in a haste to take any further step in this matter so as not to aid any party, especially INEC in breaching the Constitution,” Melaye added.
